CraftingEngine Documentation Hub

Welcome to the official documentation for CraftingEngine, an extensible, modular, multi-stage process and workstation engine for modern Minecraft servers (Paper and Purpur).

CraftingEngine bridges traditional crafting mechanics and immersive in-world gameplay. It enables instantaneous crafting (including shift-click bulk crafting for fast workstation recipes), while transforming advanced crafting into rich gameplay experiences: forging blades on physical anvils with rhythmic hammer strikes, assembling 3D multiblock structures, brewing complex alchemy elixirs in boiling cauldrons, and mastering interactive minigames with live action bars and floating holograms.

Core Terminology

  • Workstation: The physical block or multiblock structure (e.g. Anvil, Runic Forge, Cauldron) where crafting occurs.
  • Process / Blueprint: A multi-stage recipe sequence that consumes/reserves inputs, verifies conditions, and yields outputs.
  • Stage: A distinct crafting step (e.g. Smelting →\rightarrow Hammering →\rightarrow Quenching →\rightarrow Sharpening) supporting branching transitions and salvage recovery.
  • Manual Action: Striking or interacting with the workstation block in the world using a required tool.
  • Ghost Preview: Packet-level translucent holographic outlines showing how to construct an incomplete multiblock structure.
  • Capability & Drain Policy: Modular station traits (e.g. heating, forging, pressure) that can deplete dynamically per tick or per use.
  • Transactional Reservation (InputMode.RESERVE): Isolates ingredients in a memory buffer during long crafts to guarantee zero item loss on disconnects or server restarts.
  • Property Inheritance: Declaratively copies, scales, and evaluates PDC tags and custom item attributes from input ingredients into produced outputs.
