Creating Your First Process Blueprint

This tutorial walks through creating your first custom crafting process blueprint step-by-step using CraftingEngine’s unified YAML schema.

1. Creating the Blueprint File

Create a new file named copper_dagger.yml inside plugins/CraftingEngine/processes/:

id: "copper_dagger"
name: "<gradient:#e57373:#d32f2f>Ancestral Copper Dagger</gradient>"
# Failure handling: return ingredients if player aborts or runs out of time
policies:
failure: "REFUND_INPUTS"
obtaining: "DROP_IN_INVENTORY"
# Station and capability prerequisites
requirements:
capabilities:
- "forging"
stations:
- "blacksmith_anvil"
- "minecraft:anvil"
# Consumable materials required in player inventory or station slots
inputs:
- resource: "minecraft:copper_ingot"
display: "<gradient:#e57373:#d32f2f>Tempered Copper Ingot</gradient>"
quantity: 2
mode: "CONSUME"
- resource: "minecraft:stick"
quantity: 1
mode: "CONSUME"
# Tool required in main hand (not consumed)
tools:
- resource: "minecraft:iron_pickaxe"
display: "Blacksmith's Hammer"
quantity: 1
# Trigger mode: click the station to start
triggers:
- type: "INTERACTION"
# Multi-stage execution sequence
stages:
- id: "shaping"
duration: "3s"
on_start:
- action: "play_sound(block.anvil.use)"
- action: "spawn_particle(CRIT, 5, 0.2, 0.5, 0.2)"
transitions:
- target_stage: "sharpening"
- id: "sharpening"
duration: "2s"
on_start:
- action: "play_sound(block.grindstone.use)"
on_complete:
- action: "play_sound(ui.toast.challenge_complete)"
# Final output rewards
outputs:
- resource: "minecraft:stone_sword"
display: "<gradient:#e57373:#d32f2f><b>Keen Copper Dagger</b></gradient>"
quantity: 1
type: "SUCCESS"

2. Blueprint Breakdown

  • id: Unique kebab-case or snake_case identifier across all server blueprints.
  • name: Formatted title using Adventure MiniMessage tags (gradients, bold, colors).
  • requirements: Defines which capabilities (e.g. forging) or specific workstations the recipe requires.
  • inputs: Items consumed during the process. mode: CONSUME removes them, while mode: PRESERVE keeps them (useful for mold items or blueprints).
  • tools: Equipment checked in the player’s active hand.
  • stages: The progression steps. In this example, the craft runs a 3-second shaping stage, transitions automatically to a 2-second sharpening stage, and triggers sound and particle cues.
  • outputs: The resulting item(s) granted upon stage completion.

3. Reloading and In-Game Validation

Save the file and test the blueprint without restarting the server:

Ventana de terminal
/cfe reload processes
/cfe recipe info copper_dagger
/cfe recipe validate copper_dagger

If validation reports PASSED, approach an anvil with 2 copper ingots and 1 stick, equip an iron pickaxe in your main hand, and right-click the anvil to start crafting!
